ReplyDeletethe good old days? i think not.
the 60s. for most people drab, dark, the anti-carnaby street. jimi hendrix? just how well were black people getting treated in day to day life. true the pill was on the way but freedom for women, let alone equal rights was a ling way off.
the seventies? more of the same. strikes, winter of discontent, violence in ireland, chile
the eighties? massive unemployment, unchecked greed, the miners strike, thatcher. interest rates!
at the same time there was good fun to be had even if you were on the dole in a (not)working town. nostalgia is all well and good as long as you don't have to live it. for me right now is a pretty good time to be living and ,having a daughter myself, i don't think there's been a better time for her to be growing up. she may beg to differ!
nice post. look forward to seeing what you come up with next!
